The Adult Education Department conducts activities within special education for adults, Swedish for immigrants (SFI), theoretical courses at basic and upper secondary level, as well as vocational, apprenticeship, and combination training, including YH.

Adult education should serve as a foundation for national and regional skills supply to the labor market.

We are now looking for two Study and Career Counselors (fixed-term 1 year). The positions are located at the Adult Education Center, which is the central unit within Adult Education in Karlstad Municipality. At the Adult Education Center, there is school management, business developers, study and career counselors, as well as administrative and admissions staff.

Job Responsibilities

You will work together with other study and career counselors and other staff at the Adult Education Center. The main tasks include individual counseling sessions both in person, via phone, and remotely (e-counseling), mapping prior to studies, planning for upper secondary graduation, and providing information about educational opportunities. The position includes administrative tasks related to admissions, counseling emails, and staffing the unit's phone service. The work includes group guidance based on the unit's needs, which takes place at several educational providers, where close collaboration with educators and special educators regarding students' studies is also included.

You will also collaborate with other municipalities, administrations, and authorities to provide our students with the best possible support and guidance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained study and career counselor with experience from adult education or equivalent. You should have good knowledge of the education system and the labor market. You should be structured and outgoing with good pedagogical skills. Special emphasis will be placed on having a professional approach to meet people with different needs and conditions.

We place great importance on personal qualities, and for this role, it is important that you are service-oriented, communicative, and responsible. You enjoy guiding others and have a good ability to see solutions to problems that may arise. Since you work in a team, we expect you to have good collaboration skills and be flexible.
